IE 7 issues with Windows XP security issues published 02/12/2007?

My computer auto-installed the Windows XP security updates that were published on 02/12/2007. Now Internet Explorer 7 does not work, showing me the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" message. I am fully connected to the internet so that is not the problem. Any suggestions on how to fix my problem with IE 7?

Here are the updates that were installed:

Security Update for Windows XP (KB928255)

Update for Windows XP (KB931936)

Security Update for Windows XP (KB924667)

Security Update for Windows XP (KB928843)

Security Update for Windows XP (KB927779)

Security Update for Windows XP (KB927802)

Security Update for Windows XP (KB918118)

Security Update for Windows XP (KB926436)

Thanks!

All of those Updates are ligitimate updates. They are not causing your problem.

Try cleaning your Browsers Cache by deleting the Cookies, Temp Files and History in Internet Options.

I honestly don't know if this will fix it, but take a look at your Content Advisor. If it is on, turn it off.

You can find your Content Advisor settings by going to Tools %26gt;%26gt; Internet Options %26gt;%26gt; Content.

If it is currently enabled, disable it and try browsing again.
check your start up group . under tabs .it may have went to original default .
I have an almost identical problem. I installed the same 8 UPDATES but one is KB 931836 instead of 931936.Also my updates showed 2 additonal ones that you did not mention. KB 928090 and 890830. I did a system restore back to Feb 5th and now all is ok . I am afraid to reinstall them. Did any of the suggestions posted here work ?

Thanks

IE 7 - Certain Sites Not Working?

I recently downloaded IE 7 and I've noticed some of my favourite sites no longer show properly.

That is one of the few that do not show.

How can I sort this problem?

This might be trying to protect your computer. If might not let you go on some "questionably un-secure" sights. This is to prvent phishing, viruses, trojan highjackers, etc.
you're right, the site you provided us with doesn't work with IE 7.0 but real fine with FireFox 2.0

so dump IE 7.0 and switch to firefox!!!

no just kidding, you have to keep IE 7.0 even if it stinks.

My piece of advice : use firefox everytime you can and IE 7.0 only when you can't do otherwise (ie microsoft updates need IE 7.0 or websites with activeX require IE ... but there are getting fewer and fewer)

How can I reload an older version of IE since loading IE 7, I can't open 1/2 of the web pages I

SINCE DOWNLOADING IE 7, MORE THAN HALF THE TIME WHEN OPENING A WEB PAGE, I RECEIVE A MESSAGE SAYING IE CANNOT THE WEB PAGE.

I FOLLOW ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS AND HAVE NO CONNECTIVITY PROBLEMS NOR DO I HAVE ANY VIRUS'

ALSO MANY MANY TIMES WHEN I TRY TO GO TO YAHOO (PRIMARILY) I RECEIVE A MESSAGE THAT IE HAS ENCOUNTERED A PROBLE AN HAS TO CLOSE. BUT I TAKES ME TO THE WEB PAGE I WANTED AND IT WORKS FINE, BUT THE MESSAGE WINDOW STAYS ON. SOMETIMES, IF I WAIT AWHILE AND THEN CLICK SEND MESSAGE TO MICROSOFT, THE WINDOW DISAPPEARS WITHOUT SHUTTING DOWN.

THIS, THE NOT OPENING THE WEB PAGE AND IE HAVING TO CLOSE ALMOST ALL THE TIME, I HAVE TO GET BACK TO A PREVIOUS VERSION.

Please help me! IE and Firefox will not display background colors or some images! What should I do?

Windows XP on compaq Presario 900. Latest versions of XP (SP2), IE and Firefox. Since this is happening with both browsers (haven't tried any others), I think that there is something wrong with my display settings or I am missing some sort of software. I have checked everything I know to check.

For example, if you go to www.officesupportnow.com (my website), on this computer, all I see is the text and the buttons to go to the other web pages. No picture on the right, no background color.

I need to redo my website but am holding off until I can see it on this computer the way I should be able to!

Additionally, (I don't know if this is related) but sometimes the font within the form fields online is quite large in IE only)

If anyone would be kind enough to please point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

IE Properties-Programs-CALENDAR info is missing and will not let me input anything. Help??

My computer crashed and I had to reload from my recovery disk. In IE the Calendar info is missing and I keep getting a msg telling me that, but no info on how to fix it.

IE Properties-Programs-CALENDAR info is missing and will not let me input anything. Help??microsoft zune

Are you getting a " Missing .DLL error message when trying to run calendar after Windows XP installation ? This is a possible solution.

- Copy the following files from " M\CALENDAR " to " C\CALENDAR "

(1) - CALRES32.DLL (2) - MFC30.DLL (3) - MFCAN32.DLL

(4) - MFCO30.DLL (5) - MFCUIA32.DLL

Or, failing that, try running " Calendar set-up program" again. If the Calendar still won't open, run the Internet Explorer set-up program again to install missing files. That's all I can come up with. I hope you get your problem resolved.

Should I remove IE 7 and use an older version an older Mozilla to speed up my slow internet?

Version 7 of IE uses way to much memory for my slow computer.

I want to know if it is unsafe to use an older version of IE or Mozilla. All I want is the tab feature, but IE7 is very slow for some reason.

Should I remove IE 7 and use an older version an older Mozilla to speed up my slow internet?windows xp professional

FireFox is SO much faster than IE anyways.

=)

Go with Mozilla.

Should I remove IE 7 and use an older version an older Mozilla to speed up my slow internet?windows xp home internet explorer

Absolutely. :) Using Internet Explorer at all is generally not a good idea anyway, for several reasons.
You cannot increase your sloww internet connection by simply degrading your softwares. You have to use advanced browsers for a quicker web access. The reason for your slower speed may be that since you installed it there is nothing in the cache memory. Use it for sometime and you will feel the difference.

Or try Firefox or Opera before uninstalling IE7.
I use Firefox as my default browser, but I did not remove IE7 (I don't think you can anyway).

Sometimes I find things online that FF can't handle, so I can still use IE7 in those cases.

I don't see a lot of difference in speed- must be something in your settings, or maybe memory is not enough?
If your running Windows Vista, you can't remove IE 7. But if your running XP or older...

Run some spyware scans, make sure nothing is bogging your computer down; also check "tools -%26gt; manage Add-ons". Too many plug-in's such as toolbars can slow your browser down. The reason your IE is slow, is most likely because of the built in "Phishing filter", make sure that's disabled. If you have Norton, they also install this phishing filter thing on your IE, disable those any other plug-ins that you don't use. The only time IE was slow for me was when I had a internet TV toolbar, after I disabled it, IE was smooth.

You don't have to read the rest, but it explains why I think IE is faster.

From my experience, IE is actually a bit faster than Firefox. If you do use Firefox, I think you'll find that it uses more memory than IE running the same content (check by using your Task Manager, accessed from ctrl+alt+del).

IE is a bit faster, particularly because of the pre-fetech feature. I'm not sure if Windows still does this, Windows has in the past used a feature called Pre-fetch to partially start certain programs such as IE and Media Player even before you manually chose to start them, so they'll start faster and etc, so that's why IE is a bit faster.

Now if you only want the tab feature, I believe our very own Yahoo has a toolbar or plug-in for IE 6 that adds the tab feature. So you might want to downgrade back to IE 6, and then get the Yahoo toolbar.
I don't have a problem with IE7.

Your problem may lie elsewhere. Maybe some housecleaning is in order:

1. Set wallpaper and screensavers to blank or none 鈥?they run continuously in the background and use memory.

2. Review your start menu 鈥?remove anything you don鈥檛 need on a daily basis 鈥?load games, etc. on an as-needed basis.

3. From Internet Explorer, sign out 鈥?then click Tools, Internet Options: delete cookies, delete files (offline), and clear history. (You can also set days to store history to 0.)

----- These actions will clear your computer鈥檚 cache. (For a description of cache, go to http://help.yahoo.com/l/ph/yahoo/mail/ac... )

4. Run Disk Cleanup, Scandisk, Defrag at least every two weeks (the more frequently they are run, the less time they take).

5. Periodically, click Start, Programs, Run 鈥?they type ipconfig renew

(that鈥檚 ipconfig space renew).

6. This will show you how to optimize your PC鈥檚 performance.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using...

These things should increase speed and free up memory as much as possible.

You've got spyware / virusses installed.

Delete them and you'll be fine!

http://www.spybot.info/
Click on Tools Menu of IE. Then click on internet options. Then click on General Tab. There Click on Use Blank Button. It will solve your problem
Your browser has been hijacked. Use a Spyware remover, if you have a recent AOL disk you get one free called Spybots. Get it installed and go off the internet, unplug the modem, and run it. Spybots Search and Destroy. www.safer-networking.org

It is freeware, and it works.

It will also set your browser to Not allow sites to install programs.

Never get stuff like those Free Smilies or Free Fonts advertised in pop-up ads or on links on your web page.

Get spybot or ad-aware from download.com or lavasoftusa.com. And get a decent antivirus

A lot of web designers don't test for compatability between browsers which causes the problems you're talking about. It's kind of weird that the site would look ok in Firefox and not IE. Usually it's the other way around. Reputable web designers (like http://www.directhitsolutions.com ) do a lot of inter-browser testing to ensure a site will look the same (or close) between browsers.

Hello ,

Familiarize yourself with all "Add-ons" this may help the crashes as you are experiencing . You can always open a second browser for yout important searches and work and use 1 browser for surfing . Also , when opening a website , give the website to fully load before open other websites . You will see the website icon in full in the browser tab to . Look up the meanings of each Add-on and decide which to disable . When the time comes and a website pops up an alert needing the Add-on , you can enable that Add-on then . I disable all Yahoo Add-ons as a recommended security barrier . I use a lot of Yahoo features and E-mail and never had tpo enable Yahoo Add-ons yet even though Yahoo pops up an alert saying that I need to enable it . I assume you are using IE7 . To view Add-ons %26gt; Navigate %26gt; On the browser %26gt; Button %26gt; click : Tools/Manage Add-ons/Enable or disable Add-ons/Where it reads "Show" is a catagory of the way Add ons are handled . Come back IE 6!?

My boyfriend downloaded IE 7 on our laptop (probably because a shiny flashing ad told him too) and it sux. I want to uninstall it and download IE 6 again. Is there any way to do this?

Come back IE 6!?windows media player 10

The right answer is to go into the control panel and add/remove programs then remove Windows internet explorer 7.0 but there are fine details that you need to know.

Reboot the pc first and make sure no other software is running when you remove IE7. Close any extras you have runing in the system tray (by the clock) if you can and then do the uninstall.

Uninstalling IE7 rolls the PC back to IE6 automatically after the reboot. Make sure you reboot as soon as the uninstall is done. Once it reboots then you should be ok.

Do not use the system restore function to remove IE7. I have seen more than 2 dozen XP PC's come in the shop that have the OS trashed from using system restore to remove IE 7. For some reason they don't get along all the time and you end up with a mess. I don't know what people are doing to cause this as they are already trashed when I get them. Since MS has been pushing IE7 through the automatic update function, there have been tons of problems. You can go to windows update and unselect the IE7 option and it won't bother you again. You will get a warning when you visit WU but it's no big deal. You can also de-select it in the auto updates just like you do in WU.

Good luck

G

Come back IE 6!?microsoft net internet explorer

i wish i knew how cause i don't like it either
just do a system restore

before it was installed
Use your System Restore if you have Windows XP.

Click on "start"

Go to "programs"

Choose "accessories"

Go to "system tools"

Choose "system restore"

On "system restore" choose to top box that says "Restore my computer to an earlier time" and click next.

Next screen that comes up choose a date from before Internet Explorer 7 was installed.

Computer will restore IE6 and restart.

You now have Internet Explorer6 back!

*******This may sound complicated but actually only takes a few minutes.*******
I know! I hate some of the features- whenever I open up a window, I have to take 3 more steps to find it.
To uninstall Internet Explorer 7 to return to Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP

Click "Start," and then click "Control Panel."

Click "Add or Remove Programs."

Check "Show Updates" at the top of the dialog box.

Scroll down the list and highlight the version of Internet Explorer 7 that you are running, and then click "Change/Remove."

Uninstall that, restart your PC and you are on IE6
First download the IE6 setup from the microsoft website.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6/...

Once that is complete, go into your contorl panel %26gt; add/remove program. Select IE7 and click remove.

Once IE7 is removed, restart the computer and launch the IE6 setup. IE6 will walk you thru the rest of setup.

I would recommend staying with IE7 and make sure you have the full release. You can get IE7 official release from the MS site. Tabbed browsing makes a world of difference.

Good luck.
do as classic suggests above its easy , system restore is too much hassle
You can uninstall it via Add/Remove Programs, but I suggest you to use Opera or Firefox instead. (no pop ups, no malware software comming through, tabbed browsing, mouse gestures, widgets just to name a few benefits)
I suggest you get used to IE7 because Microsoft will slowly make it compulsory for everyone to upgrade.

If you don't like it, I suggest you try FireFox browser.
before you to that... try firefox. it's the best internet browser, ever. even microsoft admitted that firefox is a whole lot better; microsoft wanted to ask for their advice on internet security issues.

Why is IE "clipping" my CSS tabs?

If you visit, http://www.realtybaron.com/ using IE, you will NOT see the top of my tabs. Firefox is perfect. Why is IE doing this?

Why is IE "clipping" my CSS tabs?windows explorer

This is probally more likely to be due to your CSS coding than IE. IE and Firefox handle margin and paddings slightly differently. Alway set margin and padding to zero in the body tag before coding to eliminate may of the problems. But if you have coded without these present then adding them may create other problems.

The other issues may be that you have not correctly set the paddings or margins for the image in your tags. If you have used an inline list for your tags then check the ul, li and a tag settings.

Why is IE "clipping" my CSS tabs?microsoft zune internet explorer

Simply because IE is IE. Actually I can't really help since I don't know much about CSS, but seriously. Forget IE. If it works fine with firefox, be happy with that.
Talk to the fine engineers at Microsoft. They did this so that sites following Firefox standards won't be usable by IE and vice versa, thus creating twice as much work for webmasters. This is done, as usual, to attempt to protect their market share on a "free" product. A free product that is attached extremely well to a couple hundred bucks of not so free OS. Thanks for being a philanthropist in Africa, but NOT in Cyberspace, Unca' Bill. See the article on the URL below, picked up by Yahoo from Techweb.

Sounds like you have some spyware or malware infecting your machine. Ideally I'd say buy an anti-virus %26amp; anti-spyware application to keep your computer clean and protected from this sort of thing. But there are free alternatives from AVG. Whether they work as well is hard to say. Kaspersky has a decent paid app that does well. You can also try Spybot Search %26amp; Destroy which always worked good for me when I was putting up with this junk on Windows.

I put up a lot of links for you to check out, so at least one of them should work for you. If one isn't working out, you can always uninstall it. These are all safe apps I've linked you to.

I personally recommend not installing IE7 as of yet. Release candidates can always do harm to your computer.

Firefox uses a Windows process inside what we call a "library". That DLL file, which can be needed by Firefox, may have been altered and made unreadable by your installation of IE7.

I would recommend uninstalling IE7 and re-installing Firefox.

Scroll down to Windows Internet Explorer 7, click it, and then click Change/Remove.

If you cannot find Internet Explorer 7 in Add or Remove Programs, click Start, click Run, type %windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe, and then press ENTER.

Note: %windir% is the location of your Windows directory, which can usually be found at C:\Windows. To do this, you need to have "view hidden folders" enabled.

Uninstalling Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3, Beta 2, Beta 2 Preview, or Beta 1

To uninstall Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3, Beta 2, Beta 2 Preview, or Beta 1 and restore Internet Explorer 6 when using Windows XP or Windows Server 2003:

Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

Click Add or Remove Programs.

Scroll down to "Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3", "Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2", or "Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview", click it, and then click Change/Remove.

If you cannot find any version of Internet Explorer 7 in the previous step, select the Show Updates check box at the top of the Add or Remove Programs dialog box, scroll down to Windows XP - Software Updates, select "Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview" or "Internet Explorer 7 Beta 1", and then click Change/Remove.

If you cannot find an Internet Explorer 7 entry using Add or Remove Programs, try running these commands. Each is for a different release of Internet Explorer 7, so only one will succeed. To run any of these commands, you need to have the View hidden folders option enabled. In the commands below, %windir% is the location of your Windows directory, which can usually be found at C:\Windows. To run these commands, click Start, click Run, and then type one of the following:

%windir%\ ie7beta3\ spuninst\ spuninst.exe.

%windir%\ $NtUninstallie7beta1$\ spuninst\ spuninst.exe.

%windir%\ $NtUninstallie7bet2p$ \spuninst\ spuninst.exe.

%windir%\ $NtUninstallie7b2pmx$ \spuninst \spuninst.exe.

%windir%\ $NtUninstallie7beta2$ \spuninst\spuninst.exe.
If you still can't get rid of the problem what I would do is if you have Windows XP press F10 when you restart your computer and keep pressing it untill you get a screen and somewhere on there, there should be an option that says Restore your computer to an earlier date. Now this works. The computer will choose dates it thinks are important or you can set your own but once you set the date there is no turning back.
I had a similar issue with the "..has encountered a problem and needs to close" pop up. This doesn't totally uninstall IE, more of a disable but what I did was:

Start - control panel - add remove programs

On the left hand side of the program list you will see add/remove windows components. Un-check Internet Explorer and click on next. I then installed Firefox.

IE hasn't bothered me since :P
Hi,

From the control panel I was able to uninstall it. Select to show updates. Find and uninstall IE7.

The folder on your hardrive usually drive C will still show the folder on IE though.

Utorrent keeps disconnecting my ie?

when i run utorrent on my vista pc i am unable to connect to ie. Vista continues to download files but i cannot connect to internet explorer. I have noticed on some occasions that i can connect to ie after several minutes.

no, its proly vista ... vista basically blows ... its prolly a registry setting for connection limiting but im not familiar enough with vista to say ... it could also very likely be a driver incompatibility with ur nic card ... and even more likely its a compound problem involving both ... my advice is to upgrade back to XP and shelve vista until a service pack is released ..

IE Spell ON College Application?

I was using my IE Spell on my college application, and I saw red correction lines under some of the words, but since they are names of people, I did not have to bother. Then, I printed my application, and I saw that the sentences that had red correction lines did not appear on the printed sheet. Why did this happen? I am very worried. Please help.

IE Spell ON College Application?internet explorer download

This question is really a computer program question, not a Words %26amp; Wordplay one, and I suspect you'll get better answers if you ask it there. I use Firefox (and I recommend you switch too), so I wouldn't know. I suspect, though, that it's an option within IE Spell that can be toggled on and off. If it's anything like spellcheck in Word, though, you can right click on the underlined word and you'll get a popup menu giving you options (including 'ignore.') You could probably manually do this to all the proper names that are flagged, solving the problem this one time anyway.

IE Spell ON College Application?windows xp internet explorer

You need to check your spell checker options/preferences. It appears to have an option of not printing errors which is checked (or printing errors which is not checked), either way, you need to change this option (or add the names to your dictionary file).

IE question?internet explorer 6

You can uninstall IE7 and roll back to IE6 but do not attempt to uninstall IE6 if you have XP or an earlier operating system. You can corrupt critical system files as well as render Outlook Express (which is part of IE) virtually useless.

If you have Vista, you cannot roll back to IE6.

Since you feel you have file corruption, follow the steps below to try and repair it.

First update and scan your computer with your security products such as antivirus and antispyware applications. If your computer comes up clean after running your resident security products, you may want to consider running a System File Checker (SFC). This can be run in Safe Mode should you prefer. To get into Safe Mode, reboot and then either hold down or tap the F8 key repeatedly while the computer is starting up. To run SFC, close all applications such as Office, Messenger, Email, etc, and go to:

- Start

- Run

- Type in sfc /scannow (include the space before the " / ")

What SFC does is that it attempts to fix or replace critical operating system files. Sometimes this can be done without the installation disk, however it may prompt you for the appropriate operating system installation disk. If that is the case, then you know that you definitely have major file corruption or something missing. Insert the disk if prompted. Also you should run SFC using the Administrator account.

If you have the Vista operating system, the steps are a bit different due to the UAC. See the link below.

http://vistasupport.mvps.org/system_file...

Don't surf, play games or do anything while SFC runs. After it is completed, reboot your computer.

One of the major culprits in missing or corrupt operating system files is running a registry cleaner or optimizer. They can flag important shared files for deletion or cleanup. Another cause is malware.

NOTE: Before running any registry cleaner or editing the registry, always ensure you back it up first. If the registry cleaner you are using doesn't have that function, you can do it manually. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756

My computer says I already uninstalled Internet Explorer 7 yet it still operates. I tried all the tricks to revert to IE 6 to no avail - none of the tips or answers work. I thought I'd just use another browser so I installed Firefox with no problems; however, my system won't open it. I don't know what to do because I hate IE 7 but seem to be stuck using it. It won't even allow me to go into the Internet Options toolbar so change settings or anything. My computer is totally screwed up because or IE 7. I need serious help.

I am having the same problem, I did go the the Microsoft website and looked around to see if there was a roll back to IE 6. Unfortunately we may be stuck using it. What message do you get when you try to open fire fox. I have that but haven't had any issues. Email me with any messages or error codes.
See if this tweak helps you with using IE7.

Does anyone else experience IE not loading pages completely, in other words, saying it is done, when

Since I've switched to IE 7, I've noticed many, many improvements, but it seems that I have been having to hit refresh or clicking on links more often to get the pages to load correctly.

It isn't my internet connection. I am on a high speed back bone connection with 10 MB/s bandwidth (10 down, 3 up).

For example, I go to view a streaming video...the page loads, it displays everything almost immediately except for the video and an image or two. Now it may be due to Ad servers and the order IE downloads (in particular, many more pages containing adclick and similar services seem to have this problem more often), but the unusual thing is that after waiting for a few seconds, the status bar in IE indicates Done, and the connection lights go out, but it isn't finished! I check my connection, and the speed is still fine (excellent connection). So I hit refresh, and what do you know, the video now suddenly appears as if "Oopps, did you want to see this content too?"!

Anyone else?

why get so fussed with YOUNG ie not 50 teachers 6th form ie over 16 student relationships. Some get married

Why if clearly consentual and the younger girl is head strong not a pushover.

Not treat it like any other one with a few ground rules.

They have to come clean and she has to change class

So he does not mark anything of hers and so she cant after say he seduced her when it was not true if they split up, or he cant demand favours or she offer them for grades.

Ie you remove the power relationship.

Plus if in the open its easier to look for any signs of abuse if the kiss, cuddle and hold hands in breaks like anyone else.

AS SAID CONSENTUAL.

Heard many of these ended up with marriage and kids and happy ever after once everyone else butted out and left them alone. One case was at least 19 year of marriage and 3 kids.

And the girl was noted for being no silly manipulatiable girl.

I believe that the state has no place in interfering with heterosexual relationships between physically mature couples. Nature determines when boys and girls are sexually mature; this should determine the age of consent rather than a law that has its origin in the Victorian era.

Why get so fussed with YOUNG ie not 50 teachers 6th form ie over 16 student relationships. Some get married?microsoft works internet explorer

Right, got that. Obviously not English teachers then.
I'm lost. Are you trying to say that it is okay for a teacher and a young student to be intimate? No way am I going to click one of those links. I dont believe in stoning children or women or men for that matter to death. Especially not children who alot of times suffer for the adult.

Well all I am saying is that I do not believe in a grown man or woman being with a child. I dont see this as being in love with one another. I see it as criminal on the adults part. Sorry but its my opinion.

I dont understand adults who think of children in a sexual way or think they can have some sort of relationship with them that is intended for adults only. At least with doctor/nurse those individuals are adults. What does a 13 year old girl really know? How has she matured enough to understand an honest relationship? Are we pushing the children of the world to grow up too fast? I have a daughter who will be 13 soon and I do not want my daughter being looked at in a sexual way by some teacher. Teachers are supposed to be a figure of trust. If they betray that trust then who can children expect to turn to at school? Will they be leary of all adult figures? I would think so. If we allowed adults to be with 13 year old children then what? We already have sick people in this world raping and molesting mere babies.

All I know is that the laws were set and we should all try to follow them regarding children especially. Granted there are horrific cases of abuse all over the world and that issue also needs addressed and something done. Children are the innocents and need protection from people who want to hurt them. Now I am not saying that a 16 year old and an 18 year old being together is a abuse. But I am saying that I do not think a 20+ year old man has any business being with a 16 year old. If this supposed man really loved this girl could he not wait and give her time to grow? In most cases the adult realizes that its wrong. I feel like I am repeating myself here. I voiced my opinion.
u no maybe if u wernt an idiot u mite find an answer
The reason for these rules is for the protection of the students. Now I'm not saying that ALL 16+ y/o are at risk from being seduced by their teachers, but some are. You can't have one rule for some and one for others.

Teachers are in a position of trust, they are supposed to be responsible. By becoming romantically involved with a student they are abusing that trust.

If they have genuinely strong feelings for each other then they should wait until the student has completed their education.
START EDIT

My answer is below, if you care to read it. I had a closer at the list of answers you've previously given to other questions, as per your profile. I must say that I am disturbed by the high positive correlation between 14yo questioners and the sexual advice that you give. I can see the strong general theme of teenage sex that you respond to on here.

I have reported you under the category of Child Protection to yahoo, on suspicions of being a UK Teacher who is interested in persuing sexual relationships with your female students.

You know that you know better. And you know that your sexual intentions towards students are those of a fithy low-life pedophile. Seek help before you destroy the lives of children and your own career. They don't treat your kind well in prisons.

END EDIT

The big deal is because teachers are there to teach and not to date students. Of course they end up being the victim of crushes, such is the nature of high school, but dating a student compromises their authority and respect as a role model for students.

Additionally, teachers have already been through high school and college. They have dated seriously many more times than 16 year olds. Those 5 years after high school are the most rapidly forming for teenagers becoming adults. In terms of social and psychological maturrity, the age gap between a 16 year old and a 21 year old around 3 times greater than that between a 21 yr old and a 26yr old.

Despite being 'mature teenagers', they are still in school, still live with and depend on their parents, and are still considered as 'kids' to normal adults who have experienced the real world and the challenges that independence and growing up presents.

Teenagers understand this age difference. Which is why exceptionally smart 16 year olds don't teach high school with any success - an age gap is needed before students respect a teacher as being wiser than they are.

Students rely on teachers to be smarter than they are but also to know more about the realities of life. When a student dates a teacher, they are sending a message to other students that teenagers don't need to take their younger teachers so seriously in class. They think that they know as much as the teacher does, and when this happens the students are less likely to learn.

If the relationship is as strong as you describe, then the teacher should at least give the student enough respect to let them finish their studies and get out into the real world until they persue a romantic relationship together. Being lonely is a good excuse to stay friends, but certainly no excuse for abusing a high-trust relationship too fast and too soon.

If the teacher is properly qualified, they should have learnt all of this in college.

Can't find Temp IE directory on XP with SP2?

For some unknown reason I can't find/access the temporary IE directory file on my XP system. The directory I am specifically looking for is located in C:/documents and settings/'username'/local settings/temp/temp IE. (The 'username' refers to the specific user that I want to see.) I have done this in the past and it worked but can't seem to find it now. I have turned on BOTH the SHOW HIDDEN FILES and SHOW SYSTEM HIDDEN FILES via Windows Explorer Tools menu folder options but still no luck. This particular directory contains many .tmp files that are created when you use IE. I like to clean it out as it gets very large over time.

Any help would be appreciated.

Does anyone know how to clear IE of saving your searches or web sites? (Not clear history, read deta

I have IE 6 (internet explorer just incase you don't know :D) on a Windows XP. I was wondering if there is a way to clear searches you make. Like when you type something in on google, IE remembers it so when you type something starting with the same letter it shows you that previous search since it's the same letter. Can you do something so IE doesn't keep track of your searches? Also the same thing with websites. You type in a website adress and go to it and then next time you type a website adress starting with the same letter it shows you that previous site. Can you clear that? I know in Firefox you can go to privacy and click an option for it not to remember searches. Can you do this is IE and make it not keep track of searches. Please help!

OK it seems to be a problem with your IE in Vista but if you can download the full mp3 or wma file without listening %26amp; buffering it will be good.

For downloading use this

Right click on the song name then you will see a option such as SAVE AS TARGET give a place which you can access eaisly by this way the file will get downloaded to a place where you want it to be.

But on a slow connection speed it will take too much of time depending on the size (MB) of the song.

Firefox or IE 7 ?

I am using IE7 on a Windows XP computer and having no problems at all.

I wish to download and run Firefox.

If I download and run Firefox will it wipe out my IE 7 or my "Favorites" or do any damage to IE 7 ?

If it's ok to use Firefox is there anything I need to know?

Firefox or IE 7 ?microsoft access

Since I switched to Linux I use Firefox, Konqueror, Seamonkey and Opera. Something you should understand: Firefox and Seamonkey are both in a real sense descendants of Netscape, which itself was available for Unix and Linux before it was available for Windows. Using them in a Unix-like environment makes perfect sense, but of course I find it sensible to use a Unix-like environment. The security advantage of Netscape-enabled browsers, frankly is precisely that they are not tightly integrated into the operating system: in Linux they operate in user space and in fact I've surfed the net comfortably using versions of both Firefox and Seamonkey which were installed in my /home directory and had no permission to write anywhere but to my personal account.

Frankly, the current version, Firefox 2 is a memory hog. This has something to do with that a lot of it is written in an interpreted language callled XUL. Firefox 3 reportedly runs much better over time (though it takes as much memory initially). It's supposed to be officially released in the next month. You might consider waiting or downloading the beta version.

That said, obviously you can run both IE 7 and Firefox, or should be able to. This is also true of Opera and any other browser availabe from a third party. You shouldn't do any damage to IE. There is no reason, should you try to run another browser, you shouldn't continue to use IE unless like so many of us you decide to give up Microsoft software. ;-)

Firefox or IE 7 ?windows mobile 6 internet explorer

You can have both programs, I prefer Firefox alot more..never had problems with it, but Explorer was a pain in the butt for awhile. You will have to save your favorites into your bookmarks in Firefox.
Firefox is the best in my opinion. It will not wipe out IE. It will ask you to import the bookmarks from IE actually.

Firefox is safer, and more secure. Plugins make it great!

Check it out..read the about, features, etc..then decide if it's right for you.
Avoid Firefox!

When you download Firefox, it comes complete with free membership in a cult religion. You will need to face the West and bow down and pray to your new god, Mozilla, at least 5 times a day.

Of course this "free" browser comes with a steep price. You will be encouraged to become an evangelist for the "cause" (see "answers" above^) by being pressured to join the "Spread Firefox" propaganda campaign:

http://www.spreadfirefox.com/

You will be required to constantly spam newsgroups and forums (Yahoo Answers included). To anyone that posts or asks any question about Internet Explorer, you will be required to reply that the only solution is to dump IE and use Firefox. You will annoy people with shouts of "Firefox has a built-in pop-up blocker...Firefox has a built-in pop-up blocker", despite the fact that Internet Explorer has had a pop-up-blocker ever since XP SP2...almost 4 years ago.

You see, the truth has never been important to Mozilla / Firefox. They have their own dangerous socialist / left-wing agenda.

You must understand that this religion, just like all the others, has its own devil, (Bill Gates), and its own Hell, (Redmond). From this day forward you shall devote your entire life to saving the world from Microsoft.

If, you become one of the chosen disciples of this cult, you will be allowed to help in the coding of new versions of Firefox. Of course you will not be paid for your efforts. Despite the fact that Mozilla Corporation had 2006 revenue of over over $70,000,000.00 USD:

http://www.calacanis.com/2006/03/06/fire...

It prefers to brainwash its followers into toiling for the Mozilla Mother-church for free. Slave labor is always best. Firefox / Mozilla Corporation loves to cry poor-mouth. And the lemmings always follow.

Of course the hierarchy of the church, such as High-Priestess and corporate president, Mitchell Baker, ARE well compensated for their work:

http://mozillalinks.org/wp/2007/01/money...

Funny how that works, isn't it?

I am surprised that Baker hasn't taken to wearing her own version of the Papal Hat:

http://juliuspaintings.co.uk/cgi-bin/pai...

Perhaps one made out of flea-infested fox pelts! It would certainly help to hide that hideous hair-do of hers;

Firefox...the browser of choice of pimply-faced, male adolescent fanboys, who are badly in need of female companionship; and aging hippies with gray ponytails.

HA...;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)
I think OPERA is nicest, but I use Opera AND Firefox, so that if I want to use the slightly less secure firefox with all of it's great add-ons, I click my 'drag n drop' Opera button labelled 'inFF'.

I did sometimes use inIE - but find now that IE isn't a patch on either Opera or Firefox. Firefox is best, but Opera is much nicer to use and more responsive.

Get firefox, then click 'tools, add-ons'

Then install the following to start you off with a much better net experience:

Adblock

Bandwidth diagnostics

Customise Google

Download Helper (for flash video)

Mouse Gestures

PDF Download

Session Manager

Speed Dial

Stop Autoplay (stops google video's autoplaying and sapping your bandwidth until you click them)

Stumble Upon - the single BEST ever add on

Unlike the man above me, I think the single reason for leaving IE7 behind is that it cannot offer these add-ons, and it is not free - Microsoft is very bad - and don't give you the choice of avoiding use of IE, however I find that many sites I cannot log into with IE7 are accessible with firefox and opera.

IE7 is too heavy to access my hotmail account most of the time, but FF opens it very easily and quickly. It's TRUTH that guides me, not an irrational need to defend Windows.

Now I use linux, and find Firefox to be identical on this platform, and it's the same on my friend's Macintosh.

What about IE7? search Google for comparisons
Firefox will not affect IE7, and for my money, IE7 is considerably faster than Firefox, and if you browse smartly, any security concerns are limited. Firefox is also a bit of a pain when it comes to constantly having to dowmlaod and update add-ons, though i will say there are LOTS of great add-ons to Firefox that you cant get with IE, so it is def worth having both on your computer.

And what that last guy said is priceless, though i wish i had the time he had available.
i use firefox, and i've had no probs. my comp is windows xp. if it ain't broke, don't fix it. i would be a little wary of downloading IE7, for the fear of messing stuff up. why do you want firefox if nothing is wrong?

How does the ie setup program detect that a newer version is installed?

i need to completely remove anything to do with ie on my comp i want a fresh install ie6...

can anyone help

oh, please dont tell me to go to add/remove programs....(well done ur a genius)

and please dont tell me to intsallthe latest of ie, i cant my registry is messed up, and it wont install , so i need to completely remove ie

How does the ie setup program detect that a newer version is installed?windows mobile

Before IE installs, it checks the registry for any and all versions that are already installed on your machine. If you wish to run an older version then you are now running, and if you are running XP, and the version of IE was an upgrade, simply navigate to the "Windows" folder My Computer/"C"/Windows, locate the upgrade in the "Uninstall" files (they are highlighted in blue) and uninstall the new version. You will then be able to install an older version.

How does the ie setup program detect that a newer version is installed?safari browser internet explorer

go start menu

select windows update

and follow....
It might be better to install IE7 as that should fix many of your problems.

Alternatively, download Firefox instead.
Here's a link to the Microsoft Installer Cleanup utility. It's used to clear up any screw-ups with programs. At least take a look at it.

Help! System closes all IE windows automatically whenever i closes a pop-up.?

Everytime i surf the net, and whenever i close a pop-up window (be it yahoo address book, or anythng), the system automatically closes all the IE windows (including the main IE page). It's so troublesome to click on IE again and to re-login.

Need help/advice. Could it be virus??? oh dear...

Help! System closes all IE windows automatically whenever i closes a pop-up.?windows mobile

This is most likely due to Malware (computer viruses, worms, trojan horses, spyware, dishonest adware, and other malicious and unwanted software). You will need to run full anti-virus/spyware scan and clean your registry. I recommend you use these programs (they are free).

1) AVG Free anti-virus

2) Ad-aware spyware remover

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad-a...

3) Spybot - Search and Destroy spyware remover

4) CCleaner - registry and privacy cleaner

On the bar at the bottom of your screen, you will see the web page you are on. left click on that and close the ones you don't want. Or go to the site below, they will probably express it better.

Accidentally deleted IE 7 in Windows Vista. Do I need it or is Firefox good?

I think I need IE 7 but can't get it back. It is completely viped out of my comp. I looked everywhre searched on start but can't find it. If I go to install it from microsoft.com it says I have it installed already in vista. My gadgets aren't working and some other things arent working. I am using firefox now. But when I need to install something related to network it says I have no network connection. I went to Manage Networks and its all good. Are these problems caused by uninstallation of IE? Do I need IE with Vista?

Accidentally deleted IE 7 in Windows Vista. Do I need it or is Firefox good?windows xp

Just because you deleted it, doesn't mean it's uninstalled.

Go to:

Start %26gt; All Programs %26gt; Internet

Should be like the 5th one from the very top or something.

Right click and click "Pin to Start Menu". Or drag it to your desktop.

If it's not there, go to:

Start %26gt; Computer %26gt; Program Files %26gt; Internet Explorer %26gt; iexplore

Right Click "Pin To Start Menu", or Drag it to your Desktop.

If you cant find it. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/product...

Re-install.

Yeah, you should defeinitely keep it, but use Firefox.

Its always good to have them both, in case you can't see something in FF

Accidentally deleted IE 7 in Windows Vista. Do I need it or is Firefox good?microsoft office 2007 internet explorer

its nice to have both

you probably just have deleted the shortcut for IE 7
IE will allow you more sites Firefox doesn't operate all programs correctly because Firefox isn't a windows program where IE is so it will allow you more sites very rarely will you need IE though .

IE powered by orangeuk, but I'm with BT now??

My previous ISP was Orangeuk, I changed over to BT and am currently using the BT web browser, whenever I open IE it says 'IE provided by Orangeuk' on the top bar, also occasionally when I try to connect i get a message saying that another provider is controlling my connection. Is there a way of changing this or getting Orangeuk off my laptop?

IE powered by orangeuk, but I'm with BT now??windows update

You have a customised version of IE on your pc, where the title bar has been customised with orange's name. I would not worry about this on you browser as this is only a display item.

As for other orange software, try and remove as much of it as possible in the Add/Remove programs in Control Panel.

IE powered by orangeuk, but I'm with BT now??microsoft excel internet explorer

Well where do i begin, Unfortunately orange insist that you use the CD they provide to load the usb modem (speedtouch) to your system. This also installs a load rubbish that to be honest spanners windows. I've had this problem with a client and the best solution was to back up your files and start-a-fresh with a CLEAN! install of Windows thus removing there bundled cr%p. its the only way to be sure that its gone.
SIMON K is correct. The "IE provided by Orangeuk" is a simple piece of text that Orange have inserted. Orange have no influence over your IE except that they may have set some of the defaults to their liking. The BT installation will have overwritten most of these anyway. If you really cannot live with it, somewhere in the depths of TuneUp Utilities 2007 http://www.tune-up.com/products/tuneup-u... is an option to edit the text to get rid of the reference to Orangeuk
Change to Firefox.
You can also change this with a registry edit. Although it is probably safer to use the software mentioned above.

Why do IE browser always experiences script errors?

i have a win XP pc, and it works fine, except for the IE, be it version 7 or 6 always saying that it experiences script error, error on page and to continue or not to continue. how could i avoid getting that? also, is there any way to uninstall IE thoroughly and use firefox instead? thanks. . .

Why do IE browser always experiences script errors?windows update

script errors are actually results of "outdated browser" but since you already have ie 6/7 and still experience the same script error...you actually need to update your java program in the pc (www.java.com)...

btw, have you tried uninstalling the ie and reinstalling it using the original windows cd? that also can help...

ie experiences this error more than firefox since there are settings in ie that actually require very updated java program in order for it to open info especially pics...

take care alain...??? :D

Why do IE browser always experiences script errors?microsoft excel internet explorer

Don't UN-install Internet Explorer!!....You will need this!!... long story..You can still download Firefox which would most proberly fix those script errors and use both together without any conflict.

Firefox and IE the only browsers left?? They Forgot one!!?

There was a report in yahoo that firefox was the only browser left battling Internet Explorer, They forgot to mention the regular mozilla browser, and more importantly OPERA!! All are far superior to Microsofts IE, and never get much use simply because Microsoft doesn't bundle their competitors software with windows (Duh), and the fact that microsofts Active X platform is taking over sites like this (active x = spyware that is legal by the way) and firefox and opera dont readily accept these without extensions or add-ons (Explorer required a lot of these too, but downloads them in the background so you dont notice), which ARE available easily, you just have to click the button a couple of times! Anyhow, the question is, WILL YOU PEOPLE PLEASE GIVE FIREFOX OR OPERA A GOOD CHANCE? Download one or the other, you will love them once you get used to them. Firefox is a little more like IE now that MS has stolen their design, but Opera is a piece of art (Very Beautiful) Try them, please!

Firefox and IE the only browsers left?? They Forgot one!!?windows media player

Don't use IE, it would be a serious mistake to give MicroSoft total control of the Internet. I always use Mozilla Firefox! its better and safer from viruses too.

I love Opera too : D but I usually use FF seen as it flicks up on my screen in a second whereas Opera takes a little time.
I've been using Firefox for about 7mos now. Too many freeze ups with IE, so I gave Firefox a shot. Very happy with its performance.
i like firefox the best... simple but awesome UI. tried Opera but didn't like it very much.
these days even safari is turning out better than IE.. to be considered i fell.. and its cross platform too!
i love firefox!
I agree totally. I use a Mac so I use Camino as my browser, but on a PC, I would never use IE. It is a useless and dangerous tool. I trust Mozilla way more than IE. I also like Opera, but it's interface takes some getting used to. It is a matter of preference, and both Firefox and Opera are far superior to IE6 and even IE7. Opera is the most secure, you will need to get used to it though, it is different.
There are more web browsers out there than you can shake a stick at, most discussions involve the ones most commonly used. It's nice to see a plug for Opera, it is a good web browser also.

IE 7 Bug (shaking address bar)?

IE 7 was working for a while, but recently when i try to use, everytime i click near the address bar, it and the the tabs bar shake up and down really quickly, and i'm not able to do anything on it and must ctrl+alt+delete to close it. I tried uninstalling it 2x, and still get the same problem. Does anyone know why this is?

P.S. I have firefox , and i prefer IE, and i also run a couple of spyware/adware checks, but it didnt help it

Problems with IE 7?

My interenet explorer has updated itself to IE 7 (from IE 6) and now we seem to be having problems. Lots of 'error on page' and drop down menus won't work on ANY website, which is very frustrating! I have looked at previous questions related to this and many suggest resortin back to IE 6 through the 'add/remove programs' option. Sounds great, but when I go into my 'add/remove programs' there isn't 'interent explorer' of any kind me to use. Any suggestions?!

Thanks!

Problems with IE 7?windows vista

whats your moaning about? ie7 is by far better than firefox, quicker much more user friendly. Firstly do you know what you are doing on a pc, the are meant to be infallable, its the idiots that use them that muck them up.Have you got an ancient pc, upgrade man , get more memory do your housework on your pc as you would with a car. take time to learn more then you wont be wasting your time asking (and receiving) stupid answers!!

Problems with IE 7?windows defender internet explorerSwitch to Firefox and toss IE into the re-cycle bin. You'll be happy that you did. IE is loaded with too many holes, needs to many patches and is the prime choice for exploitation amongst mal-contents. Report It

What a brilliant dissertation by an obviously brilliant mind Taffy Comp Geek. I espicially enjoyed "the are meant to be infallable". Computers aren't infallable not by a long shot, why? BECAUSE they were made by humans! Logic is flawless, creating flawless logic is tricky. Report It

Go back to Add/Remove programs and look for Windows Internet Explorer 7.
Had similar questions, and got really frustrated.

Am now on mozilla firefox. Far better, the virus stopper thingy works and get few pop ups.
Uninstall immediately. It's just not ready or compatible with anything.

Rollback asap.

In ad remove scroll down to w's
Get Firefox! http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
If IE7 does not appear in add/remove programs check the box near the top that says show updates. This will show the IE7 uninstaller.
Go back to "Add or Remove Programs" and scroll the list. The entry is called "Windows Internet Explorer 7"
My Ie7 did that too i called the company and one thing they told me to do was the following:

1. Go to tools and select Internet Options

2. Click on the advanced tab

3. Scroll down to security and uncheck "use TLS 1.0" (i think its that one but it might be the SSL ones too)

Good Luck and u might have to restart internet explorer!

If that doesnt work just uninstall in add/remove programs, it will be under Windows Internet Explorer 7.0 i just checked.
Go to add remove programmes and scroll down....shows as Windows Internet Explorer 7, use Mozilla Firefox it is much better.
I'll bet this is the most frequently asked question on this site. Surely it has been picked up by Yahoo by now, who keep pushing it.
Cant agree more with whats already been said a few times - ditch IE and get Firefox, its so much more robust and less prone to online threats.

Then theres the extensions, the tabbed browsing, the lack of active x letting prats dump stuff on your machine without you knowing, there are many reasons why you should but GET FIREFOX!
I had same problem ,and could not find it ,so i reset computer to an earlier date, and everything is now ok.
There must be quite a few numb nuts out there, why are there so many user's finding the new IE7 such a head ache to download and use, my copy of IE7 was also downloaded with windows update's and so far it has been great, easy to use and no problems, there is very little difference between IE6 and IE7 so what is all the fuss about, it just goes to show that not every one can use a computer or understand what they are doing when sitting in front of the screen downloading software, you only have to look at some of the stupid question's on the answer's page to learn that
It may not show the first time but check to see that "show all updates" is checked.

A system restore might also work (it effect program files only - Start %26gt; Programs %26gt; Accessories %26gt; System Tools %26gt; System Restore) Choose a date before IE6 was "updated" to IE7.

It might take a couple attempts to take.

Or... you can try something different. Firefox is awesome, so is Opera. Both are free.

I, personally, prefer Firefox.

http://getfirefox.com/

http://adblockplus.org/ (this should be your first add-on for Firefox - guess what it does ^_^)

http://opera.com/
You should stick with the updated IE7 and NOT remove it from your computer as there are quite a few programs running on your PC that rely on IE7 to work properly, some in Firefox and Opera. There are also websites that Firefox and Opera can't open that IE7 can, and vice versa. I have both Firefox and IE7 on my PC happily working with each other.
You only need to do a search on here to see how many people are having problems with IE7. The best thing to do is download Mozilla Firefox available from http://www.mozilla.com/ Its faster, more user friendly, easily customisable to suit your needs and no problems.
Lots of people seem to be having problems with it. Try removing any toolbars or addons which may be integrated in to IE7 as these may not be compatible, things such as yahoo, google toolbar etc. Also check for any adware or spyware. This may get IE7 working.

Sorry no Idea how to get back to IE6 without add/remove programs. I did once find a program that uninstalled IE after about 3 hours of searching but can't remember what it was.

Would also suggest ditching IE altogether, try firefox or opera. much better browsers which cause less problems
you can get a patch from Microsoft called a compatibility patch it fools most sites that it is IE6 most sites have failed to update and we have got to wait for internet sites to upgrade to IE7
I had a ton of problems with IE 7 when I first loaded it in. I couldn't upload files to Yahoo! mail, my browser was always freezing etc...I thought I would have to either upgrade OR use another browser so I DLed Opra 9. Mind you, Opra 9 was great, but, it wasn't working with ALL media and websites. So, what I did was a little more research and found out some of the issues that are causing IE 7 problems. I have included a link that, if you follow the steps, will cease your problems with IE7.

It includes what amount of memory to dedicate to the new browser, what settings to leave on and turn off, and even a simple fix of reinstalling and rebooting TWICE instead of once. It worked for me and for a few of my friends, it should work for you as well...

http://www.ie-vista.com/known_issues.htm...
I have IE7 and it's the best thing ever. all the regular sites that I use work fine.

Perhaps it's some of the sites you are using have not been updated to work properly with the new browsers.

Sites need to update themselves with technology aswell!
